Barry Mcgee hits Houston and bowery

barry-mcgee-houston-street-37

The Houston Street mural wall on the Lower East Side has a new resident: Barry McGee. With the help of Josh Lazcano (Amaze) and Chino, the team bombarded the wall with simple red tags of names and crews of graffiti writers past and present. In a bizarre evening that included female club-goers, the NYPD, and an accident with an SUV flipped on it’s side, the crew finished the entire wall at around 5am.

TRESPASS: A HISTORY OF UNCOMMISSIONED URBAN ART

Picture 3

Taschen, the minds behind Wooster Collective and Carlo McCormick have published a new book called Trespass that will be in stores this month!

An excerpt from Wooster’s post:

“…The book includes dozens of never seen before photographs of long-lost ephemeral works. In putting the book together with Carlo and Ethel, we held true to one fundamental rule: Every photograph in the book had to be of a work that was unauthorized and lacked permission. Commissioned work, even even if the photographs were absolutely spectacular, would not be included.”

The Story of Planet Rock London

SC_STORIES_PR_LDN

Behind every Sedgwick & Cedar Planet Rock t-shirt, there is a story. The London tee honors UK Fresh ’86 and symbolizes the UK’s Hip-Hop scene, and a concert to remember. Rappers including the London Posse, Graffiti artists including Goldie, and pioneering DJ’s Tim Westwood and the late, great, English impresario, Malcolm McLaren did much for the UK’s early Hip Hop scene and for Hip-Hop in general.  The UK even had its fair share of huge Hip Hop events including the UK Fresh ‘86 concert.  The brainchild of UK legend Morgan Khan and his Street Sounds label, UK Fresh ’86 was MC’d by “The Boss in London,” Mike Allen.

Check out the t-shirt here at our online store.
